Semen quality can be analyzed and evaluated through the following eight indicators.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Semen volume is 2-6 mL per ejaculation. A semen volume of less than 2 mL should be considered abnormal when complete specimen retention is confirmed. Too little semen volume is often seen in androgen deficiency, proximal ejaculatory duct obstruction, and severe inflammation of the parasympathetic glands.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The common color of semen is off-white or slightly yellow, or more yellow if you have not had sex for a long time. If the semen is milky white or slightly yellowish-green, it may be due to an infection of the reproductive tract or accessory glands, or the presence of leukocytes in the semen; if the semen is reddish, or if it contains blood or clots, this is called hematospermia, and it may be due to seminal vesiculitis.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Liquefaction time Semen is in the form of a thick liquid when it is first ejaculated, then coagulates into a jelly-like consistency and returns to a liquid form within 5-30 minutes due to the action of liquefying enzymes secreted by the prostate gland. If the semen does not liquefy for more than one hour, it is diagnosed as non-liquefaction, and the sperm cannot move normally, which can lead to decreased fertility.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Normal pH should be 7.2-8.0. Excessive acidity (less than 7.0) or alkalinity (more than 8.0) can affect sperm activity and metabolism.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Sperm countSperm count includes sperm density and total sperm count. Normal sperm density is 0.6-1.5 billion per milliliter, and if it is lower than 0.6 billion, it is called oligospermia; total sperm count is the product of sperm density and semen volume.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Mobility Sperm motility is categorized into three grades, namely, forward moving spermatozoa (PR), non-forward moving spermatozoa (NP), and immobile spermatozoa (IM) PR \u2265 32% is considered normal, otherwise it is considered as weak spermatozoa. Reduced sperm motility suggests a decreased chance of conception.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The survival rate of spermatozoa refers to the number of spermatozoa that normally survive for a certain period of time after the semen is discharged. Normally, the number of viable spermatozoa within one hour after ejaculation should be more than 70%, and if it is less than 40%, it is abnormal.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Not all spermatozoa in semen are normal. A large proportion of spermatozoa are malformed, such as giant heads, mushroom-like heads, double heads, wedge-shaped, triangular shapes, thick tails, forked tails, and double tails.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The number of days of abstinence, whether the specimen collection is complete, and related diseases will affect the semen test results, so once the indicators
